We know that healthy skin helps keep our bodies nice and strong!
This is why the children’s storybook Kaal Tackles Eczema was created - to support families to better understand and manage the itchy skin condition called eczema.
Through co-design with community members, we now hope to better understand the strengths and effectiveness of community-driven health promotion resources like Kaal Tackles Eczema through the Moorditj Marp (Strong Skin) Storybook Evaluation Project.
This knowledge will inform the future development of resources that will empower communities!
This project is a proud collaboration between The Kids Research Institute Australia, Derbarl Yerrigan Healthy Service, South West Aboriginal Medical Service, Cancer Council WA, Perth Children's Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.
What is involved?
We are looking for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families with children that currently have or have previously had eczema to read the book Kaal Tackles Eczema 2 times a week for 4 weeks in their own time at home. Guardians will then be asked to provide feedback through your choice of an online survey or yarning session.
Participants will receive a storybook pack, skincare product and $50 voucher for taking part in this project.
