PICOBOO - The Platform Trial In COVID-19 Vaccine BOOsting Study
2025 has been a very productive year for the PICOBOO Study, with 230 visits performed and 1000+ specimens collected!
After attending a final fifth visit, all participants will continue to receive three- monthly surveys for an additional 12 months. In that time frame, if you do become COVID positive, we would love to see you and collect some blood and saliva samples. Please call our clinic number on 0400 450 240 as soon as possible as we have a three-week window post infection in which to collect samples.
Our last visit was in October and recruitment for the PICOBOO Trial will not resume due to limited vaccine availability in Australia. We’re now focusing on completing data collection, analysing results, and preparing publications. Further updates will be communicated through newsletters and webinars.

COVID-19/Influenza Vaccine Study
This year we participated in the CIC-E-301 Study, which evaluated a new combination COVID‑Flu vaccine designed to protect older adults against seasonal flu and COVID-19 illness.
The final study visits have now been completed, and we proudly achieved 100% participant retention - an impressive feat in clinical research! This achievement highlights both the dedication of participants and the commitment of our research team to advancing vaccine technologies and improving public health.
The results of this study will provide valuable insights into how one vaccine can simplify protection against two common illnesses and potentially improve uptake among older populations.
