CMVictory: finding a vaccine for cytomegalovirus, a serious virus for unborn babies

We are extremely proud to be a part of this groundbreaking international study aiming to develop a vaccine for cytomegalovirus (CMV). CMV is relatively harmless for most people, but if contracted during pregnancy, it can be passed on to the baby and lead to devastating complications. CMV is the leading cause of birth defects worldwide, including vision and hearing loss and cerebral palsy.

The CMVictory Study has recruited over 7,300 women worldwide. Here in Perth, we have 25 study participants who are very committed to protecting future mums and their bubs! They have willingly invested their time over the last 2.5 years, attending approximately 14 clinic visits at Perth Children’s Hospital. We are on track for our first group of participants to complete their involvement in early 2025, with preliminary data currently being analysed.

A huge thank you goes out to our participants for their time and contribution towards this life-changing cause - medical and health advancements, whether through new vaccines or medications, “do not just happen”. It is thanks to participants like those in the CMVictory Study, and others like them, that we all ultimately benefit.

If you would like to be considered for future research participation, please register your interest on our database. If any opportunities arise that you may be eligible for, we can forward you more information to consider.
